Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to pick and choose from many Bible story pictures for a family Bible quilt project? My goal is to offer such a collection on this web page and to make them free for making quilts or for teaching children about the Bible.
This link will take you to a tutorial I wrote several months ago on making crayon-colored Bible quilts. This can be a family project or a youth group project as children are able to trace and color the pictures for the quilt.
I like to make my quilts in the honeycomb layout to correspond with my personal business, Honeycomb Adventures Press,LLC. But the coloring page pictures are drawn as nearly square rectangles to make it easier for a beginner to sew the quilt together. Hexagon shapes are also an option.
My vision for this project is for children to go to bed with Bible quilts, and seeing the pictures they point to one and ask to hear the story read or told. I believe Bible quilts can become catalysts that will encourage family devotions and Bible reading at bedtime.
Through this blog I hope to stimulate an interest in creating Bible quilts among parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles of children everywhere. I would also like to build a support group with other quilters to further stimulate the concept of making Bible quilts.
