New Release Bible storybooks with coloring pictures

7 e 300Jonah: The Fearful Prophet by Janice D. Green with drawings by Kimberly Merritt is a newly released Bible story book put out by Honeycomb Adventures Press, LLC. As do all Honeycomb Adventures Books, this book comes with a downloadable PDF file with square coloring pages suitable for making Bible quilts.

Jonah: The Fearful Prophet comes in three different formats. As always with books by HAP, there is the full-color edition, but this time there is also a coloring book edition and an e-Book edition. The story is written in easy to understand language for children, but unlike most children’s Bible storybooks, Jonah: The Fearful Prophet tells the whole story—enough that even the parents and caregivers might learn something new as well. There are also great discussion questions in all three editions, and puzzles in the print editions.

Title Page without creditsHoneycomb Adventures Press has also come out with a second edition of The Creation using Nancy Gordon’s illustrations that many of my readers have already found. This second edition has been revised in several ways and includes puzzles as well in the print editions. Like Jonah: The Fearful Prophet, it also comes in three formats and includes the link to a free downloadable PDF file of the coloring pages.

New coloring pages

We have two new coloring pages by Violet Vandor on the Easter theme. One is of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem the Sunday before he was crucified. The second is of Jesus carrying his cross. She is currently working on two more pictures to add to our collection.

Fabric printer sheets for quilting

With the hope of more Bible coloring pages for our Bible Quilts blog running through my mind, I was thrilled to stumble across quilter Margie Campbell post today. She was sharing instructions with a quilting group on LinkedIn about how to create fabric printer sheets that can be passed through a computer printer to make quilt block pictures.

I can think of several ways this technique could be useful in making Bible quilts.

  1. You can print coloring pages instead of tracing them for the children to color.
  2. You can scan the pictures children color on paper coloring pages. Then print their artwork directly on the fabric, color and all.
  3. You can find Bible pictures and print them on the fabric. You may have some copyright issues to deal with if you go this route.

Margie offered to share her blog post which explains how she makes her own printer fabric using cotton fabric, freezer paper, and two liquids – Bubble Jet Set 2000 and Bubble Jet Set Rinse. Click here to read her blog post.

A big thank you to Margie for sharing this information with us.

+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Until now I have only been able to offer sets of coloring pages to help people get started making their own Bible quilts. Since I do not have sufficient talent to make the coloring pages myself, I must charge for the coloring page sets so I can pay my illustrators. My pockets are too shallow to pay illustrators up front. For this reason I am adding a PayPal button hoping a few individuals might donate funds to pay for coloring pages that can be posted directly to the website for free downloading. I have begun paying my illustrators $30.00 per coloring pages ready for free downloading from BibleQuilts.com.

All donations will be used to pay artists for coloring page art to be downloaded free from BibleQuilts.com.

Bible coloring pages coming

I am preparing to create a fundraising project through FaithFunder.com to raise funds to pay artists to create a spread of Bible coloring pages that can be used for making Bible quilts. The plan is to make the coloring pages available for free and to offer a wide variety of pictures so families and choose the pictures they like for their quilts.

All coloring page downloads on BibleQuilts.com are uniform in size to make it easy to pick and choose the ones for your child’s Bible quilt. More pictures to come.
